Kaspersky Total Security Free download and software reviews. Pros. I honestly cannot find any pros about this program. Cons. I paid for it. The program continually gives false positives. Exclusions arent adhered to. It erroneously locks out the Internet connection requiring a rebootdisabling securitythrowing the computer out the dang window. None are effective. Summary. Let me start this off by saying that I was forced into getting an i. Phone and hated every single day I had it, but yet managed to get by for the entire term of my contract 2. Now, imagine purchasing an internet security suite for a one year term and not making it through even a quarter of that period before deciding to throw in the towel. Yeah, its that bad. Im no dummy when it comes to internet technology, maybe a bit slow, but definitely not stupid. So when it comes to things like false positives, Im going to do my research and learn how to tweak the program to prevent this from continuing to occur. Same thing for when Ive selected to exclude a fileprogram I know to be safe so that I am not getting the pop up windows that remain on top of my work until I deal with them. For some towns this astronomical occurrence will be immensely profitable. As Brooke Jung, the fulltime eclipse marketing and events consultant in Hopkinsville. Continues from Part 11. Please use this thread to discuss antivirus, antispyware and firewall software. If you are having issues with certain software, a new. Yet no matter what I tried, what I tweaked, what I attempted to do to remedy these problems, they kept coming back. It was like talking to someone you meet at the bus stop for awhile only to realize theyre blind, deaf, dumb. But when the program began shutting down my Wi. Fi connection for no reason whatsoever and blocked me from re establishing a connection, requiring me to reboot the computer, Id about come to the end of my ropes. Tonight, on a tight deadline, it did it again. Proggie or puter had to go. Your guess as to which went. Hint, Im still on my computer writing this review. Reply to this review. What have you ended up using instead Anyone else. alternatives Its just that this is so highly rated is all. Pros. It works good, I have had it catch a few emails with a virus or trojan and it removes them before it goes in the inbox. I have not been infected at all since I have been using it. Cons. You do have to tweak settings like all AV programs. Safe money does stop working when firefox has one of its updates. That is the private protected browser that stops until it is updated. Reckon thats expected because firefox disables it. It takes a bit until they fix it in one of the daily updates. Summary. I like it and will renew it I have the full Internet security suite. Which gets updated every yr.
I have it for 3 computers for 3 yrs. I did notice when I had to reinstall in Win 7 it was best to use the original install disk and then do the last yr update. It will work using the update download but its an update file and took it longer to figure out with the license. If you normally use some free program downloads that have adware if you let it clean them they will not install. Just make an exception and dont forget to uncheck those stupid install boxes. Read every screen those toolbars leave folders and some files behind. If you dont make an exception the program will show warnings that they were not disinfected.

I have used Kaspersky for a long time as well, but it is very irritating when my browser Firefox automatically disables Kaspersky because their signature has expired and it is therefore an unsigned, unverified app until Kas takes care of this. Nearly every photo online has been edited in some way, whether through cropping, filtering, compressing, colorcorrecting, or other generally innocuous touchups. But. Download the free trial version below to get started. Doubleclick the downloaded file to install the software. Every time it happens i. Kaspersky Protection is disabled in my browser I look to Kaspersky for answers, but although the problem is acknowledged by users in support, there seems never to be any answers or understanding there. Just send in a support ticket. I finally asked questions in Firefox support duh and have come to understand the issue. So therefore my internet browsing, secure keyboard and Safe Money use is, shall I say, compromised or least I feel it is until Kaspersky takes care of this. I consider that to be unacceptable. Pros. It appears to work well, once some initial niggles were sorted out. I found the support very good and helpful but they havent been able to sort out my problem with Safe Money, which I have disabled because it is such a pain More anon. Cons. Safe Money IE, it always goes to IE, so apparently isnt compatible with Edge, not that I use it. I use Opera and it isnt compatible with that, nor is it likely to be in the forseeable future. Summary. Safe money and the online keyboard are a total nightmare. Every time I typed a letter, using both the online keyboard my physical jeyboard, 2 asterisks appeared. I have no idea why, or how to correct it. I spoke to Kaspersky at length they wanted me to send files to them. I am not prepared to send them files from my computer, or let them have access to my computer. I dont know who I am sending this info to. I have disabled it. I also bought a physical disc, which was out of date when I bought it, even though it said it was 2. That was my first call to Kaspersky, they emailed me the up to date version and I had to uninstall the version I had bought in a store. When this current version expires, I will return to Comodo. I had never had any problems with Comodo found it to be an excellent program hassle free Reply to this review. Was this review helpful1 0 Pros. I have used Kaspersky PURE 3. Kaspersky Total Security. The dashboard interface, settings, and features are more than adequate to provide peace of mind and confidence. My two laptops have been well protected for over 3 years. Cons. There are two issues that bother me most about Kaspersky 1 Their technical support staff are clueless about giving a detailed response with step by step instructions, and instead talk in generalities like please uninstall both products without providing guidance on how to accomplish that task, and 2 Their installation packages frequently result in failure, generating errors. What should be a simple, fail safe, and painless installation often results in frustration, loss of productivity, and downtime. Summary. Heres a copy of a recent communication I had with Kaspersky Technical Support which illustrates my dissatisfaction. This is a very incomplete and poor reply, not like the technical support that Apple or even Microsoft now provides. I asked for exact guidance on how to remove both Kaspersky Total Security and Pure 3. EXACT INSTRUCTIONS. Instead you tell me please uninstall bothlt lt. I first tried removing the partial installation with an older version of kavremover. Windows 8. 1 administrative mode, NOT safe mode. When I rebooted, this wiped out three Internet connectivity driver, and for some reason a wireless driver. I lost all connectivity. Fortunately, I have 3. I was able to restore Windows 8. Then I researched the issue further by myself. I found the latest version of kavremover. You. Tube videos on how to boot Windows 8. Safe Mode, not as easy as simply pressing the F8 key as in previous Windows versions. Then I ran kavremover. Kaspersky AV program, removing all partial traces, rebooted, and successfully installed Total Security 1. It all added up to about 8 hours of wasted productivity and a nights lost sleep. The simple fact is that Kasperskys software developers make a terrible installation package. You can and must do better. Your installation should provide thorough removals of previous programs, all in one step, and verify that all elements have been removed before proceeding with the installation. Thats why there are so many complaints about incomplete installations and error messages. While you make a fine AV App, you need to do much better in both 1 technical support, and 2 software installation. You may close this ticket, and if you were Microsoft, Apple, Amazon, or any 5 star US based company, youd also send me a nice gift for all my wasted time. And here is Kasperskys respons. Thank you for writing. Please contact us again if you have any further questions. lt lt. If you have plenty of time to waste and can tolerate such clueless technical support, then this product may suit you better than it did for me. However, I will think carefully before renewing my Kaspersky subscription in the future. Reply to this review. Was this review helpful1 0 Pros. Couldnt find any pros software is awful ma support is worse. Trend Micro Maximum Security Review Rating. Almost every security company offers multiple levels of protection. The most common configuration consists of a standalone antivirus utility, a security suite with added components such as firewall, antispam, and parental control, and a mega suite with even more components. Companies vary wildly in how they parcel out features among these three levels. Some keep the antivirus bare bones, just doing the job of protecting you from malware. Others pack so much into the antivirus that theres not a lot left to add when it comes to the suites. Trend Micro strikes a nice balance. There are plenty of bonus goodies in the companys antivirus, but you get plenty more in the entry level suite, and even more in Trend Micro Maximum Security, at the top of the heap. Its the best product from Trend Micro. Your 8. 9. 9. 5 yearly subscription gets you five licenses 1. You can use those licenses on Windows, mac. OS, Android, or i. OS devices. Bitdefender and Check Point Zone. Alarm Extreme Security also give you five licenses for that price, though Bitdefender doesnt support i. OS, and Zone. Alarm is PC specific. For about the same price, Norton gives you 1. GB of online storage for your backups. Got more than 1. 0 devices For 9. 9. 9. 9 per year, Mc. Afee lets you protect every device in your household. This mega suite looks almost identical to Trend Micros entry level suite, with a big Scan button in the middle and four icons across the top representing four security feature groups. Clicking the Data group reveals two features found only in Maximum Security, the Cloud Storage Scanner and the file encryption Vault. Your installation includes Trend Micro Password Manager as a separate program, and support for mobile operating systems comes only at the mega suite level. Shared Antivirus Features. Naturally this suite includes every security goodie from Trend Micro Antivirus Security. Ill briefly recap my findings from evaluating the antivirus, and you can read that review for more details. Lab Test Results Chart. Malware Protection Results Chart. Phishing Protection Results Chart. Performance Results Chart. Three of the four independent antivirus labs I follow test Trend Micro. Its scores range from total failure to near perfect. My aggregate scoring algorithm yields 8. Trend Micro, which is on the low side. Kaspersky Total Securitys aggregate score is a perfect 1. Bitdefender, with 9. In my hands on malware protection test, Trend Micro detected 8. Mc. Afee managed 9. In a test using my previous collection of malware samples, Webroot and Comodo Internet Security Complete each earned a perfect 1. For my malicious URL blocking test, I try to launch 1. URLs and note how the antivirus reacts. Trend Micro prevented the browser from visiting 8. URLs and killed off another 1. Symantec Norton Security Premium is the only product that has scored higher in this test, with 9. Trend Micros web protection also earned a great score in my antiphishing test. Its detection rate was just two percentage points behind Nortons, and it handily beat the protection built into Chrome, Firefox, and Internet Explorer. Only three recent productsfrom Bitdefender, Kaspersky, and Webroot Secure. Anywhere Internet Security Completehave outscored Norton in this test. For ransomware protection, Trend Micro starts by preventing unauthorized changes to files in specific protected folders. It also watches for behavior that suggests ransomware. If a ransomware attack encrypts some files before behavior based detection kicks in, it restores those files from a secure backup. Other shared features include Mute Mode, which suspends scheduled scans and non critical notifications so you can concentrate link safety rating on social media sites, webmail sites, and search portals a firewall booster that aims to prevent network based attacks and a spam filter that only works with Microsoft Outlook. Thats quite a lot for a mere antivirus. Shared Suite Features. When you upgrade from the antivirus to Trend Micro Internet Security, you get a heap of additional features, which naturally also appear in Maximum Security. You know the drill read my review of the entry level suite for the full details, which are summarized below. You can use your licenses from the entry level suite to protect either PCs or Macs, though you get more, feature wise, using them on PCs. Trend Micro Antivirus for Mac isnt a full suite, though it includes some bonus features, among them ransomware protection and a simple parental control system. The PC Health Checkup scans your system seeking ways to optimize performance and security. Among other things it looks for programs slowing the boot process, space wasting junk files, and browser traces that might jeopardize your privacy. Along those same lines, the social media privacy scanner checks your social media profiles to make sure theyre configured properly. You log in to your Facebook, Twitter, Google, or Linked. In account, and it reports any settings that you could change to enhance your privacy. In addition to the expected filtering of websites with inappropriate content, the parental control system attempts with incomplete success to cover up lewd images on search pages. Parents can set a weekly schedule of allowed internet time for each child, and they can also set a daily maximum. The same scheduling tool lets parents control application usage, for example, disabling games during homework time. A simple report of blocked websites rounds out this basic parental control system. You can configure Trend Micro to prevent transmission of user defined personal data. Whether its spyware trying to steal your data or kids offering too much information online, this feature protects your private data. The Secure Erase file shredder wipes out files thoroughly enough to foil forensic recovery software. As youll see below, this feature becomes especially important as a companion to the encryption utility found only in the mega suite. See How We Test Security Software. Cloud Storage Scanner. Every antivirus necessarily examines all your executable files, but thats not all. Microsoft Office files and PDFs can carry malware as well, so the antivirus must scan them. But what about files that you store in the cloud Trend Micro has those covered too, at least for some cloud storage services. To use this feature, you give it access to your One. Drive and Dropbox accounts. It securely transmits PDFs, executable programs, and Office files from those accounts to a server at Trend Micro, where they get scanned. If any prove to be infected, it isolates the original. And of course, it deletes the files from the server after every scan. In testing, I had the impression that the user interface was a moving target, changing before my eyes. My Trend Micro contact explained. Dropbox support is a beta feature, available only in English language versions. When you click the button labeled Sign Into Dropbox beta, you switch to the beta version of this feature. In this version, the button label changes to Sign Into Dropbox, and beta moves into the title at top. Sign into One. Drive instead and the labels switch back. Note that in the beta version, Trend Micro scans your files every 1. Is there a difference, privacy wise, between having a local antivirus scan your files and having those same files sent to a Trend Micro server Those most obsessed with privacy may think so. If the idea worries you, just dont use this feature. Encrypted Vault. Do you have any secrets Are they recorded in documents on your PCA data stealing Trojan that evades your antivirus could steal them. A nosy co worker who rifles through your computer while youre at lunch could reveal them. But not if you protect those documents with encryption. When unlocked, Trend Micros Vault component looks just any other folder in Windows Explorer. You can treat it just like any folder, with one odd but minor exception. While you can move files into and out of it, and open files for editing, you cant use the right click menu to create new files. When you lock the Vault, its encrypted contents become completely inaccessible. The first time you use the Vault, you create a password to protect its contents. Note that this same password locks the settings for parental control and data theft prevention. Thats it. You dont have to name the vault or set a size like you do with Bitdefender Total Security, Kaspersky, and others.
